SporcleCon – the country's largest trivia event – is coming to D.C this week. We chatted with Nick Groves, the founder of District Trivia for some tips on how to win, whether you're competing for a Sporclecon prize or at your local dive bar.

  1. Always put yourself in the position of the person writing or asking the question. Typically, the author will choose something that has an interesting or thought-provoking answer.
  2. If you have a gut reaction, go with your gut. The secret that most people don't know is that the person that writes the question wants you to get the question right. Nobody wants to walk into a room and get everything wrong throughout the course of the night. The question is almost always something guessable.
  3. If you know nothing about the subject (ex. they are asking 10 questions about Arrested Development and you’ve never seen it), go get a beer.

Do you have any trivia tips or fave trivia spots? We’re making a pod episode on it and want your take!
