It’s National Hispanic Heritage Month. Last week, I asked if you all had any Hispanic-owned restaurants you wanted to highlight, and here’s what you had to say:
Reader Amanda S. – “One amazing new latinx-owned restaurant I’d like to highlight is Mariscos 1133!”
Reader Kristen L – “Tequila & Mezcal in Columbia Heights is sooo good! I feel like this is a hidden gem (that maybe I shouldn't be sharing!) The cocktails are 100%.”
Reader Nelson R. – “Las Placitas. Best food and value in the city – portions are generous, best ceviche, fajitas, pupusas, lomo saltado, and flan in town, plus friendly and attentive service.”
CCDC Lead Producer Priyanka Tilve – “I adore Taqueria Xochi. It's takeout only, but their birria always hits the spot.”
As for me – I am a huge fan of the homestyle carnitas at Los Hermanos in Columbia Heights, and Huacatay’s Peruvian chicken is some of my favorite in D.C.
We also got recs for Tortilla Cafe in Capitol Hill, El Rinconcito Cafe near Mt. Vernon Square, El Tamarindo in Adams Morgan, and Oyamel downtown.
