I Want To Hit Up the Classics
The Downtown Lunar New Year parade on Feb. 22 will be filled with performers and firecrackers. Or, if the crowds are too much, check out the Asian Art Museum celebration the day before with dozens of makers, performers, and food vendors. Rosslyn is also having its own Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 19 at Central Place Plaza.
I’m Just Here For the Food
Then you’re in luck. Legendary D.C. restaurateur Peter Chang is hosting a temple fair with tons of Chinese street food, New Year’s sweets, crafts and a red envelope draw. Bar Chinois and Singing Tiger have a whole LNY special menu. Karavaan is having a free, food-centric new year celebration. And for dessert, Rose Ave Bakery is selling Lunar New Year sweet tins.
I Want Something Family Friendly
Make crafts, watch performers, and complete a scavenger hunt at the GW Textile Museum's Year of the Horse Festival on Feb 21. Head to Old Town Books in Alexandria for Lunar New Year storytime with local author Pat Tanumihardja. Or, learn about D.C. Chinatown history from local community members on this Chinatown Culture Walk.

I Want To Get Creative
Head to Alexandria to learn how to build these adorable tiny Lunar New Year altars at Del Ray Artisans. They also have a LNY block printing workshop coming up. AIGA DC is hosting a creative gathering/new year celebration at metrobar.
I’m Here For the Party
Local DJs will be spinning Asian American EDM all night at this “Lunar Rave” at Union Stage. Or, head to an Asian City Pop dance party at Lucky Danger. Even Decades is ringing in the Year of the Horse with a themed club night (2/13). Finally, the Young Asian Americans of Washington are hosting a “YEE-YAAW” Lunar New Year dance celebration at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Feb. 27.
