H Street Corridor is happening! There is so much to eat and drink here; I find myself coming back again and again just to try something new. If you are tired of your old standbys, I highly recommend checking it out. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
First, Coffee:
The lattes at new Filipino cafe Hiraya are unbeatable, with flavors like ube, pandan, and turon. Also, try their adobo chocolate chip cookie and tocino breakfast. On the other side of H Street, you have Sidamo Coffee and Tea which serves up an Ethiopian coffee pot service and stellar breakfast sandwiches.
What To Eat:
You can’t go wrong with the many incredible food options on H Street, but we recommend Cane. We were absolutely blown away by the curried chicken and the Geera pork belly bowls, which were warm, bright, and comforting. Don’t skip the tamarind chutney. Maketto is another great option for Cambodian and Taiwanese cooking.

What To Do:
Catch a performance at the ATLAS Performing Arts Center, which highlights local shows and artists. For visual arts, head to the Mehari Sequar Gallery, which focuses on articulating narratives of the African diaspora. Also, don’t forget to take a free trip on the streetcar!
For Cocktails:
If you want to try something new, head to Irregardless. We got the “Domesticated” and “Taken for Granate” cocktails which were flavorful and refreshing. Otherwise, head to Copycat Co. for a rotating cocktail menu and Chinese street food snacks.
