Washingtonians will head to the polls on June 16 for a primary election that includes races for mayor, D.C. House Delegate, and an at-large seat on the city council — along with a special election for a separate at-large council seat. Voters in Wards 1, 3, 5, and 6 will also select candidates.
This is the first D.C. election with ranked choice voting, where voters can rank up to five candidates for each race in order of preference. City Cast DC sent a questionnaire to each candidate asking about their campaign platforms and what they see as top priorities for the city. We also included some multiple choice questions on how they would prioritize certain issues.
We’ll be publishing the responses to our survey all week, starting with the Democratic candidates for mayor’s race. See their responses below.
Note: Some candidates chose not to answer particular questions, which we left blank. Candidates with no responses did not reply to our questionnaire despite multiple attempts to reach them.
Peter Kumar and Leo Nyberg compiled this report.
